When Petra arrived in Canada in 1998 she started volunteering as a birth and postpartum doula. She quickly witnessed the need for postpartum support for new and expanding families. She trained and certified with CAPPA, Childbirth And Postpartum Professional Association. Being a postpartum doula is her passion and it is her foundation for all the support she gives to her clients.

When she noticed that her clients were seeking support for sleep for their children she searched for an education that gives her the well rounded skills to support every family in their own unique way.

Her 30 years of experience combined with her continued education in the postpartum and infant and child sleep field makes her the well rounded support person many of her clients have appreciated and make sure their family and friends connect with as soon as they find out they are expecting their baby.

It is her goal to educate and prepare expectant and new parents for the trials, challenges and joy of welcoming their child into the world so they have realistic expectations of life with a newborn and can enjoy their parenthood journey. She will do this in many different ways, when providing postpartum support, when you attend one of the workshops or during a sleep consultation.

Moving to Canada in 2010 and  she was asked to help support  a mother after the birth of her twin baby boys as she. She soon realized that many people in Toronto and the GTA did not have much support in the postpartum period – especially if their health care provider was an OBGYN. She decided to pursue a career as a doula and certified as a postpartum doula with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA). This training coupled with her previous training and experience as a nurse and midwife has made Suyin one of the most respected and sought after doulas in the GTA. In the years that ensued, she added birth doula, childbirth education, new parent education and infant and maternity sleep consulting to her offerings.

Suyin joined CAPPA as  Faculty member, training postpartum doulas as she wanted to support more families by training more postpartum doulas to meet the needs of clients reaching out to her.

Suyin is passionate about giving parents the tools and knowledge to ease parents into parenthood. She does this to empower parents by providing practical help, support and knowledgeable advice as well as helping them navigate through the information jungle that is the internet and social media.
